November Begins

We had a really fun weekend. Halloween 2008 was a lot of fun! It was Carson's first Halloween...and it was the first time Jackson picked his own Halloween costume. Carson was a turtle and Jackson was Thomas the Train. They were both adorable. Jackson went through our neighborhood in record time. Probably under 30 minutes. He and his friends ran from house to house. His brother tagged along for a while then hung out with me and handed out candy.

We celebrated Carson's first birthday this weekend. We had his favorite meal, spaghetti. He loved it. It was all over and in his hair when he was finally finished. Jackson and I made his birthday cupcakes, vanilla and chocolate chip with butter cream icing. He loved them! He ate his entire cupcake! It was so fun to watch. It was a lot of sugar though...about an hour later the sugar had kicked in and he was rolling all around on the floor. It was pretty funny. He had a great time at his party. Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate his special day.

We took some great pictures. Take a look when you have a chance.

Cool Fall Days

Fall is here and it has been months since I've posted. It kinda got away from me. So there are lots of pictures to share. All below as usual.

We have done a lot of fun things over the past couple months. We ended July with the Dayton Air Show. Jackson really enjoyed it and it totally wore Carson out. He was passed out by the end. It was a hot, steamy day but we trucked through. We got to see some really neat planes and we toured a couple. The Pilots were outside or by the door of each so we could ask questions about their aircraft. What an exciting job that would be to pilot one of those planes!

Carson had his first haircut in August. Brenda did the honors. She cuts my mom's hair, my hair and Jackson's hair. I feel bad for her when we walk in! Carson sat pretty still for the whole thing. At first he was a little leary about what was happening, as you'll see from the funny faces he was making. He hung out on my lap and did a great job for Brenda. Mimi came along to take pictures for us. Thanks Mimi! The pictures are great!

Of course, we had to go to see Thomas again when he came in town. It was Carson's first ride and Jackson's third. Ethan, Austin, and Aunt Dawn joined us this year. They had a ball. The big boys got Thomas shirts to remember the day. Now their favorite shirts. We rode the train and then enjoyed the festival in the field below. Carson even sat still for a Thomas tattoo. It was very cute.

Jackson had a fabulous birthday party for celebrate his 4th. Can you believe he's already 4 years old? I can't. And what other theme would he want to do but Thomas. This year he asked for a Gordon cake. For those who don't know, Gordon is an engine on that lives on the Island of Sodor with Thomas. His engine number is 4. Jackson actually thought of that all on his own. No kidding. So Jackson and I made a chocolate 3D Gordon train. Let me tell you, it was quite challenging. But it came together and he was really excited about it when it was finally finished. He was a great helper. He put all the ingredients in the bowl, except the eggs. and helped me ice it. He put the wheels on and the "coal" in the tender box. It was fun.

We had some pictures taken at JC Penny for Carson's 9 month and Jackson's 4 year. The photographer did a nice job with them. We had a really hard time choosing which ones to have printed. There is a link below for you to check them out.

Carson is eats primarily table food now. He really doesn't like the baby food anymore. He basically eats what we eat. It is so much easier. He does still eat baby cereal for breakfast though. My next two goals with him are to get him to feed himself breakfast and move to a sippy cup. He'll drink out of a sippy cup if it's just water, but his likes his formula in a bottle. That could be a tough task. We'll see. Carson still doesn't have any teeth! I hope there are some up there somewhere. I need to look up when Jackson got his first teeth. I know he had them by now! Any day we'll see one, right? Carson is crawling like mad and is starting to try to walk. He cruises on everything and loves to walk around holding our fingers. He has pretty good balance. He can stand on his own. It won't be long until he takes his first steps.

There are lots of pictures to share from the past few months. Take a look when you have a chance.

It's Summertime!
We have had a fun summer. As you can see from the picture list, we have been busy. The boys are doing great! Jackson started swim lessons this summer. I took the first class with him since he hadn't taken lessons before. He graduated to the next class, which is a class by himself. He is becoming more confident in the water each class. He listens to his teacher really well and is great at following instructions. Once he becomes more comfortable in the water, I think he will really excel. He works hard in the lessons and really enjoys the other kids in his class. There was a Mommy & me class at the same time as Jackson's lessons this time, so I signed Carson up too. Carson has a great time in the water. He really gets a kick out of watching me blow bubbles in the water. It's fun getting some special one on one time with the baby.

Our beach vacation this year was in Destin. We had a great time! The water is so beautiful and the sand is so white. A couple days the water was so clear it looked like a swimming pool. Amazing! They boys of course LOVED the beach! Carson napped every day just like Jackson did his first beach trip. Jackson managed to sneak in a couple beach naps too. :) We couldn't keep Jackson out of the water. He loves to jump the waves and run his dump truck in the sand. This year, he really liked writing in the sand and spelling words. So a few days we worked on letters and the sounds they make in the hard sand by the water. He giggled his head off when the water would come up and wash our work away. Carson enjoyed the water too. The first time we sat in the water he held on really tight at first. But he loosen up and about twenty minutes later, he was digging his feet in the sand and trying to touch the water as it came up to our feet. I'm glad they enjoy the beach trips as much as Tony and I do. We took a dolphin cruise while we were there. Jackson really enjoyed it. It was a very kid friendly cruise. Jackson got to go up to the front, steer the boat and play ship captain for a few minutes. He loved that. We saw lots of dolphins on the trip. Tony got some really good pictures of them.

Carson is through all the different baby foods now and is dabbling in table food. He really enjoys plain spaghetti and sweet potato puffs. He still isn't a full fledged crawler yet. But he's close. At the beginning of June, he was totally moving backwards. I don't think he could have moved forward if he wanted to. But now he can get to something in front of him. He is starting to move forward now and is almost getting up on all fours. He likes to stand and is starting to cruise. He moved down a whole couch cushion last week. It won't be long now and we'll have a mobile baby. Look out! He is a definite motor mouth. He babbles all the time. He plays a cute little game with us. If I'm doing something, like unloading the dishwasher, and he wants to be funny, he'll let out a big scream and look at me to see if I respond. Then he gets a huge smile on his face when I turn look at him and ask his "What?". A little game he plays.

I took a few pictures since the last posting. Take a look...

May Flowers
We have had a lot going on this month. Carson had his 6 month check up. He is 18 pounds and 26 inches. He is doing great on his large motor skills. He is has mastered sitting on his own and picking up objects around him. He plays great solo and has a lot of fun playing with Jackson. I think he is his favorite playmate. We are working on the babbling. Taking baby steps every day.

Jackson has had a lot of friends over this month. His cousins and Aunt Dawn came over on a Saturday and the boys had a sleep over at our house on Saturday. They had a ball. Carson got a special treat too. He got to spend the night all by himself with Nana and Papa. I know he loved that!

Granny and Pappaw came down to visit at the beginning of the month. It was great to see them. Jackson wanted to go home with them! Granny had to explain that she didn't have a carseat for him this time. The boys are going to go up to visit in a few weeks. Jackson can't wait! He keeps asking me when Granny's work is over. He knows that is when he gets to go.

We had a great Mother's Day. We went to brunch at Grandma DeCourcys and had dinner with Mimi. What a fun day! It was great to get a chance to relax and enjoy the company. We all got Mimi flowers for her front yard for Mothers Day. We went to lunch and to Natorp's to help her pick them out. All the boys had a lot of fun helping her. I know they'll be excited to see them each time they visit Mimi.

Carson had his first veggie on the 14th. Green beans! That was Jackson's first too! Carson wasn't a fan. AT ALL! About 1/3 of the way through he spit them at me. Then he stopped swallowing! A few minutes later, green beans and spit were running down his face. You couldn't help but laugh! We got it all on video! By the fourth day, he was doing fine with them. He had peas for the first time yesterday. He seemed to really like them. He ate the whole container with out complaining.

We went to the Zoo last week with Gramps. We braved the rain. It wasn't too bad. We got there about noon, it was raining. So we went and ate lunch. By the time we got done it had stopped! We practically had the whole zoo to ourselves. When we rode the train, we were the only people on it! We could sit anywhere we wanted. We saw some different things this time since the weather was a little yucky. That was great! We still saw all of Jackson favs too...bears, flamingos, and the gorillas. We got to see the new baby gorilla! That was cool! I guess the daddy gorilla thought we were staring too long and picked up a hunk of grass to throw at us. We high-tailed it out of there!

We went to a Reds game this month. It was a beautiful night! 70 and sunny. It was Carson's first game. The boys were dress in their baseball gear, Jackson in is baseball shirt and Carson is his little uniform. The crowd around us thought they were super cute! We didn't see much of the game but we still had a great time!

Spring is here!
What a busy month! We have had a lot of fun so far in April. The Cincinnati Zoo has been our favorite thing this month. We've been twice. In the beginning of April we went with Jackson's best friend from school, John John and his family. We had a great time. It's so fun watching them play together and interact. We have heard a lot about John John over the years from his teachers. They are inseparable in school. Now I can see why. They play together really well and have so much fun. It's been fun getting to know John John and his family.

Last Friday we went to the Cincinnati Zoo with Dana, Amanda and Matthew. What a beautiful day! We had perfect weather. They had a ball! It was the first of many zoo trips for the babies. They seemed to have a great time too. :) The flowers were amazing. They were all in full bloom. We got some great pictures of Jackson and Amanda. Definitely some for the scrapbook and picture frames.

Carson had his first solid food on Saturday. Rice cereal. He did great! You could tell he was ready. It only took about 2 bites for him to open his mouth as the spoon was coming towards him. He knew exactly what to do. On Sunday when he was eating, he would open his mouth, chew and swallow, and then open his mouth and scream until I got another bite close to his mouth again. Oh, it was funny! It was a lot neater than it was with Jackson. Maybe I'm just better at keeping his face clean. :)

Jackson is getting REALLY good at the Wii. He beat me at bowling and Uncle Junior at golf. Watch out Tony, you're next! Jackson really wants a star!

We took some great pictures this month! Take a look...

Easter 2008
Everyone had a lot of fun on Easter this year. We had a really busy day! Tony, Jackson, Carson, Aunt Dawn, Ethan and Austin all came to watch me and Mimi play bells at the St. Timothy's Easter morning service. We sounded so good! We got an enthusiastic applause after each song. The congregation usually just sits there when we are finished. It was probably the best the choir has ever sounded. Mimi and I were pretty proud of all of our hard work. We almost applauded ourselves when we were finished.
After church we went to Nana,Papa, Aunt Dawn and Uncle Brian's for lunch and an egg hunt. It was nice visiting with everyone. We all had a really good time. The boys loved the egg hunt in the basement. Jackson played the Wii for the first time with Tony. He did really well bowling. That may be a new rainy day activity at our house. Carson was a great baby. He was passed around and gave everyone smiles and giggles.
We went to Mimi's for dinner and an egg hunt. We all had a great time at her house too. It was amazing how well all the boys held up. They have endless energy! They loved the outdoor egg hunt! After they finished the hunt and looked through their eggs, they wanted us to go hide the eggs again! Instead we talked them into an indoor egg hunt in the living room. :) The boys both fell asleep in the car on the way home. They were real troopers all day.
I've taken a lot of pictures this month. There are random pictures from March and pictures from Easter Sunday.

Weekend with Granny & Pappaw
Jackson and Carson spent last weekend with Granny and Pappaw. I think everyone had a great time. They build Jackson a huge train track that he could run his trains on all weekend. We all know how much Jackson loves his trains. Pappaw said he was suprised how long AA batteries last. Too long!!! He also got to play outside in the snow from the blizzard. Uncle Junior came over and took him out for lots of snow fun! From the pictures it looks like they had a ball! Carson had lots of fun too. He loves getting baths. You can tell from the pictures. He is super smiley. He had fun in his exersaucer too. He loves to grab and things and let go. It's so neat to watch his little brain working. Granny and Pappaw said Jackson ate like he had a hollow leg. He must be going through a growth spurt. He's hungry all the time!
Granny and Pappaw took some pictures for me to post on the site.

Circus 2008
We made our annual trip to the Circus again this year. Everyone had a lot of fun! Unfortunatly,Tony wasn't able to go with us this year. He was called away to work. He was missed. I think the boys favorite thing this year was the dog act. They totally laughed their heads off! It was so fun to watch! Carson enjoyed his first circus. He fell asleep after intermission. He was a real trooper. It was pretty loud and he just rolled with it. He's a good baby. I got some great pictures.

February Pictures
We have had a fun month. The boys are doing great. Carson is almost sitting up. He is starting to open his hand to grab onto things. He likes to sit in the exersaucer and grab onto the giraffe and pet the zebra. He loves faces. He smiles all the time. He does get upset when we sit down for dinner and he isn't at the dinner table with us. So most nights, I eat dinner with him in the baby bjorn carrier. As soon as I put him in it, he gets all smiley and happy. He just wants to be where the action is. Just like his big brother.

Jackson has had a fun month. We went to the Museum Center with Papa on a Wednesday. I think everyone had a lot of fun. We conquered the block arch. Jackson was pretty proud. It took 3 tries but we got it. We have a picture to prove it! He got to see a turtle up close and personal and of course ran around the toddler area and played in the ball pit. He was pretty tired when we were done.

We had a big snow this month too. Jackson loved it! We were outside for 2 hours. His orange truck got a workout! That truck is great in sand and snow! Carson took a good nap inside where it was warm! Jackson and I built our first snowman of the year. I think it turned out pretty well. We had to put the buttons on twice because Gunner kept eating them. He likes grapes.

We do have some bad news this month. Gunner is going to be going to a new home with a new family next week. He and Jackson were playing last weekend and Gunner bit Jackson in the face. It was just a freak accident that would probably never happen again, but we have to make sure it doesn't happen again. Gunner is a great dog and has been an important part of our family for 4 1/2 years. We are very sad we have to give him up. His new family loves dogs as much as we do. He will have two brothers, a yellow lab and a chocolate lab. The new family lives close so we'll be able to visit once he gets settled.

Carson slept through the night!
Carson slept through the night last for the first time. I mean REALLY slept through the night. He went to bed at 9:00pm and woke up when I woke him up at 6:00am! We are sooo excited! It only took 13 weeks! Hopefully it's the start of something great. Full nights of sleep for everyone!

This is end of Carson's first week at school. He is doing really well. He has the same teachers/caregivers Jackson had when he was an infant. They are really great. Very loving to my babies. It made going back to work a lot easier since I felt so comfortable with his caregivers. Of course I still call twice a day to check on him. Jackson came back to his room when I was getting everything ready for Carson last week. He calls Carson's room "the baby store". Kinda funny. He's allowed to go back to visit his little brother whenever he asks to see him. He hasn't asked yet though. :) He likes staying with his school friends, Jon, Sophia and Courtney.

Carson is doing pretty well with tummy time. It's a lot more fun to do it on the boppy. In fact, Jackson insists on it. I think Jackson enjoys it more than Carson. During tummy time, Jackson will bring all of his cars and trains over and tells Carson all about them. Their name, number, color etc. It's pretty entertaining. Jackson is a really great big brother.

Carson coos and smiles all the time now. Every morning and evening, Jackson gives Carson and good morning and a good night kiss and hug. Carson lights up with a big smile every time and sometimes lets out a little giggle. They really love each other.

Carson is 11 weeks old!
Carson is now 11 weeks old. He is doing really well. At his 2 month check up a couple weeks ago he weighed 11 pounds 14 ounces and was 24 1/2 inches long. He is long and skinny. In the past month he gained 3 pounds and almost 4 inches. Growing boy! He is smiling and giggling now. He can sure put a smile on your face. He's a very happy baby. He's still not sleeping through the night. That is a big change from Jackson. He slept through the night at 6 weeks. We did have one night this week that he slept for 7 1/2 hours, but we haven't been that lucky since. We'll get there.

We had a great holiday. We were at my mom's this year for Christmas morning. Jackson was really into Santa Claus. We left homemade cookies and milk out for Santa and carrots out for his reindeer. I think Jackson left out too much. Santa wasn't able to finish it all. :) It was really neat to watch him on Christmas morning. He seemed a little nervous walking down the steps to see if Santa left him any presents. He was excited to see that Santa had come and left he and his brother gifts.

Carson is 5 1/2 weeks old
Carson is 5 1/2 weeks old and doing great. He is 21 inches and 8 pounds 10 ounces. He is now gaining weight aThanksgivingnd growing well. I think we've finally gotten everything figured out.

We spent Thanksgiving with Tony's family this year. We had a great time visiting with everyone. We met Lyra, Tony's niece, for the first time. She's a cutie pie. Jackson loved being the big kid. He was great with the babies.

We have had a busy month so far. We cut down our Christmas tree again with Mimi and Gramps this year. It was COLD! So needless to say, we weren't very picky this year. We did find a beautiful tree. Jackson had a lot of fun helping Dad cut it down. He's such a great helper. Carson hung out in the car with Mimi. It was a little too cold for him.

We had great time decorating it. I think Jackson's favorite part was putting the train together with Tony. Big Surprise! Carson hung out in his bouncy seat and watched.

We've taken some great pictures this month. Check them out...

Pictures of Jackson and Carson - Week 2
Jackson and Carson are doing great. Jackson is really taking to being a big brother and Mommy's helper. Carson has finally started to gain weight. He dropped down to 6 pounds 10 ounces at his weight check on Tuesday. We had him reweighed on Thursday and he is up to 6 pounds 14 ounces. We have had to start supplementing with formula and it is working well. So we are now headed in the right direction. We will have him check again on Wednesday.

Happy Birthday Carson Jacob!
Carson Jacob is here! Here are all the stats...

Birthday: November 2
Time: 3:08 am
Weight: 7 pounds, 3.2 ounces
Height: 20 1/2 inches

He is a cutie! The delivery went really well. A lot faster than Jacksons. I was only in labor for 6 hours and only about an hour of that was difficult.

Jackson is being a great big brother. He is very gentle with Carson. On the first day, he gave Carson a sweet little kiss on the cheek before he left. It was really cute. He brought me a beautiful basket of flowers the first day. He knows how much his mamma love flowers!

We have taken quite a few pictures. We a missing a few of people that are on other cameras. I'll post those when I get them.

Halloween 2007
Jackson has a great time on Halloween this year. I think he is old enough now to understand what it is all about. He made it through the whole neighborhood. He was on a mission to fill up his spider basket. He was successful. It is going to take up weeks to eat all of the candy. He trick or treated with his friend Amanda. The dad's took them around while the mom's stayed back handing our candy. They had a lot of fun and apparently got a earful most of the night. The kids didn't stop talking. I guess that means they were having fun! Check out the pictures from the Halloween.

Jackson's turns 3!!!
Jackson is 3! Can you believe how fast these three years have flown by? Unbelievable. He had his birthday party on Sunday, and I'm sure to everyone's surprise, he chose a Thomas theme. :) He had a great time. Most of his family was able to celebrate with us. He enjoyed spending time with each and every one. I decided to make his birthday cake this year. His Aunt Liesl and Uncle John gave me a train mould for Christmas last year and I decided to try it out. It turned out really well. Jackson sat with me for 2 hours and helped me decorate it. He put most of the candy on himself! It was a lot of fun. I think we might make it a tradition.
